Districts reject reorganisation plans

Districts have pushed back against county council plans for local government reorganisation.The rejection comes after Leicestershire CC's leader Nick Rushton called for unitary councils covering the East Midlands so the region can compete with the West Midlands Combined Authority.Nottinghamshire CC's leader Kay Cutts has already outlined plans for a single county unitary, which she believes will save up to £30m a year.But Ashfield DC leader, Cllr Jason Zadrozny, has vowed not to 'stand by while Nottinghamshire Tories try to erase Ashfield from the map and turn us in to an expensive super-council'.
