Tower Hamlets mayor warned 'cultural change' vital to progress

Cultural change at senior officer level and their working relationships with members will be 'fundamental' in getting Tower Hamlets LBC out of government intervention, the commissioners have told mayor Lutfur Rahman. In a letter to Mayor Rahman, seen by The MJ, commissioners Ken Knight and Max Caller said cross-party member involvement in cultural change would 'do more to address the secretary of state's concerns than any other specific action'. The commissioners said their offer to meet the cabinet and ruling Tower Hamlets First party had yet to be accepted. They wrote: 'In our view this is regrettable as it is important that all councillors understand our role and what our respective tasks are.
