Plans to reinstate the post of chief executive to Harrow LBC took a step closer this week, with recommendations going to full council for approval. But despite calling for the position to be brought back, The MJ understands the new chief will be recruited on £155-£160,000 - significantly lower than the previous salary. In addition, the first job of the new chief executive will be to cut back the senior management team in a bid to make the council more cost-effective. Council leader David Perry described the decision to bring back a council chief executive as 'sensible'.
