摘要

The average chief executive salary is just £134,880, and a 50% cut in chief executive pay would only yield 0.35% of the savings needed to fill the local government funding black hole, the LGA has revealed. The figures, from the association's latest report on the local government finance settlement, reveal that communities secretary Eric Pickles' campaign to cut chief executive pay would do little to balance the books for councils. Average figures also put chief executive pay well below the £150,000 benchmark Mr Pickles has called for.
