As I listened to the newly elected leader of the Labour Party deliver his opening speech I was struck by his statement that he would have 'no truck with overborne rhetoric about waves of irresponsible strikes' and his strong assertion that 'the public won't support them....and I won't support them either' Consider this alongside reports that the TUC and the coalition Government want a dialogue rather than the Thatcherite' approach of ignoring the possibility of constructive dialogue with the trade unions.
