The 'toughest job in local government' has been filled by a former child protection specialist.Ex-teacher and director of social services, Kevin Crompton, will take over the helm at Haringey LBC as its new chief executive.Currently at Luton Council, and with experience from posts at eight different local authorities, Mr Crompton will be taking on what is widely regarded as one of the most challenging posts in local government.Haringey is still suffering the aftershocks of the Baby Peter tragedy and the national media will be closely monitoring Mr Crompton's progress.
