MPs back the board

MPs this week absolved the much-criticised Standards Board for its delays in probing ethics cases by placing the blame squarely on the Government. But they also gave the board until next April to meet its target of completing 90% of investigations within six months. A report by the ODPM select committee concluded that government delays in implementing regulations allowing the board to refer cases locally had 'jeopardised confidence in the framework'.
