Against the advice of the Electoral Commission, the pilot postal projects for the forthcoming European elections have been extended from the east Midlands and the north east to the north west and Yorkshire and Humberside regions. It is extraordinary, even arrogant, of the Government that it should totally ignore the very organisation set up to give it expert advice on elections and electoral registration matters (see The MJ II March, 'Showdown as postal voting gets go-ahead').
