The Campaign for Fair andLocal Housing Finance cam-paign is calling on the Government to scrap the existing Housing Revenue Account (HRA) system which imposes a secret tax on council tenants and prevents local authorities from investing in new and existing homes in their communities.Local control of housing finance will ensure the revenue from rents can be reinvested in new and existing council homes, boosting local economic regeneration and providing a response tothe crisis in housing supply. Councils could build up to 300,000 new homes over the next 10 years.
