Michael Chisholm and Steve Leach's letter ('How quickly they forget', The MJ, 15 January) about local government restructuring is as predictable as ever. But, I suppose they are at least consistent. Their views, as supporters of the status quo and unrealistic unitary options, are well documented, as is their consultancy work for opponents of restructuring - at least 10 reports in the past two years. It beggars belief that they see better services, stronger leadership and a bigger say for local residents as trivial issues. I certainly do not, and from my visits to all nine new councils, I know this is not the view from local areas.
