Case shows councils 'must manage risks'

Risk Management Partners (RMP) accepts the recent Supreme Court judgement in which Harrow LBC won victory over its in-volvement in the London Authorities Mu-tual Limited (LAML). This was not entirely unexpected. We recognise that, in the four years since we started our action, a lot has changed. However, the fact remains as the law stood in 2008 - the London boroughs involved did not have the legal power to set up LAML, or hand the contracts to it without competitive tender. All along, RMP acted in sorrow rather than anger. We would be happy to sit down with the London boroughs at any time to discuss how RMP can help them reduce their total cost of risk.
