Joint working' call to assist the police

Council chiefs have called for more joint working between local authorities and police forces, as public sector spending cuts continue to bite. Responding to a report by Her Majesty's Inspectorate of Constabulary, which predicted there would be 6,000 fewer frontline officers by 2015, Cllr Mehboob Khan, chair of the Local Government Association's (LGA) safer and stronger communities board, said it was 'vital' that councils and forces worked together to protect services.
