The leader of Bournemouth BC has rejected calls for a 'super council' in the region as expensive and disruptive. Cllr John Beesley said demands by the Uniting The Conurbation campaign for Bournemouth, Poole and Christchurch BCs to be merged into one combined authority could threaten existing partnerships. He said the council has a 'clearly defined long-term strategy', which is focused on a 'slimmed-down organisation' and cited its partnership with contractor Mouchel and the development of the Dorset Local Enterprise Partnership.
