Local government press officers don't seem to have had much of a Christmas break. While the rest of the country sank into a sprout-induced stupoc the leaders of northern cities and rural shires took to the front pages and attacked the Government for starving their areas of funding. These groups have a point Councils have taken a disproportionate share of the cuts, and there is compelling evidence that poorest areas have been hardest hit.
