Councils to launch legal collaboration

Two county councils are looking at joining forces with their fire and rescue services to launch new trading companies. Buckinghamshire CC and the Buckinghamshire and Milton Keynes Fire Authority have applied for permission from the Solicitors Regulatory Authority to set up a joint law firm. Although other local authorities, including Kent CC have created legal practices from their in-house departments, this is thought to be the first time teams from local government and emergency services have combined in such a way.
