'Give Troubled Families staff better terms and pay'

Local government's largest trade union has called for improved pay and conditions for staff working on the Government's £1.3bn Troubled Families programme. In a national evaluation of the programme, consultants Ecorys reported that some local authorities and their partners faced potential problems in recruiting or retaining skilled staff because key workers were often paid less than social workers. Ecorys warned: 'Remuneration and the need for parity must be given careful consideration during the expanded programme.'
