With a major restructure of the Association of Directors of Social Services on the cards, the man charged with leading the evolution appreciates that services must change in order to develop. Which is why the organisation's new president, John Coughlan - who says he is dedicated to the future of services - is the ideal man for the job. With a background in child provision, including 15 years spent at Birmingham City Council, mainly working in and running children's homes, John is also the natural choice to lead a new children's services association which will be formed as the ADSS takes on a new form.
