Ofsted must do more to ensure the early years sector has confidence in its inspection regime, industry experts have warned. The chief executive of the National Day Nursery Association, Purnima Tanuka, said nurseries 'want to be confident of robust, consistent and accurate inspection of Ofsted' following the launch of a consultation by Her Majesty's Chief Inspector, Sir Michael Wilshaw to strengthen early years provision. 'While there are elements of the report we welcome, such as the quicker turnaround on inspections and inadequate nurseries or those which are coasting without improvement, in order to be tough Ofsted must ensure it is also fair and accurate,' said Mrs Tanuka.
