A former minister has accused some councils of a 'degree of complacency' over the standard of their children's services. Ex-children's minister Tim Loughton backed Ofsted's tougher inspections, under which nearly half of councils inspected have seen their judgements fell. Mr Loughton told The MJ: 'Previous Ofsted inspections were not really getting down to the nitty-gritty of what made good children's services. They were assessing the wrong tilings.
