CLG urges even council support on homelessness

The Government should monitor councils to identify those failing to meeting their duties to tackle homelessness, a report by MPs has urged today. Members of the Communities and Local Government Committee said they recognised that councils were 'under extreme pressure to deal with an increasing demand in a climate of reduced funding' but said it was 'unacceptable that the level of support offered to vulnerable people can vary significantly across the country'.
