摘要

On 23 July, Boris Johnson, the frontrunner throughout the Conservative Party's leadership election, defeated Jeremy Hunt to become the leader of the Party. The next day, he was officially appointed as the prime minister of the UK.Mr Johnsons victory is unlikely to come as a surprise to those who had been following the contest, but it does pose questions about how the new prime minister will address the UK's most pressing challenges. Topping the list of priorities is naturally creating a Brexit deal that can garner the support of the House of Commons. But we should not let Brexit overshadow other long-standing obstacles stifling progress within the UK - arguably most urgent of all being the country's housing crisis.
