Voter ID trials blow as three councils withdraw

Three councils have withdrawn from the Government's controversial voter ID trials. East Staffordshire and Ribble Valley DCs and Peterborough City Council have pulled out of the pilot scheme. Due to take place as part of May's local elections, the trials involve requiring voters to produce various forms of identification at polling stations.
