And the history continues. I've been telling anyone who will listen about my magical tour of Longbridge back in late February this year, courtesy of Nanjing Automotive's Stephen Cox. Nanjing has been quietly planning to restart production here with a new 135bhp MGTF LE500, constructed from parts made in China. When I visited cavernous Car Assembly Building One it was tidy, silent but waiting to start up again. There's evidence of the final days of Rover 75 production, with a few new parts still waiting to be fitted to cars that, in the end, never came down the track. But it is still every bit a car production facility and it's alive.
