The expression "publish and be damned" can get bandied about at times by journalists who have their nose in a good story, regardless of who they may upset. It's a dangerous tactic because it is the editor of the publication whose neck is on the line if the story proves to be particularly litigious. That's what 1 was thinking when the extremely irate gentleman on the end of phone screamed: "I'll be calling you on Monday and you'd better have your solicitor with you." Our crime? We had published an article in Cars and Car Conversions magazine (from which MiniWorld was conceived) questioning whether it was legal for a company with no links to Rover or John Cooper to produce 'tuned' versions of the Mini and sell them as 'Coopers'.
