IP Finalizes Purchase Of WY's Recycling Business

Memphis, Tennessee based International Paper has completed the purchase of Weyerhaeuser's Containerboard, Packaging and Recycling (CBPR) business for approximately $6 billion in cash, subject to post-closing adjustments. International Paper is committed to fiber recovery, recycling and recycled materials, said the company. IP's 15 paper mills will consume five million tons of recovered paper annually. With the addition of recycled mills and numerous recycled products to its portfolio, as well as the addition of a recycling collection business, the combined system will recover, process and manage more than eight million tons of fiber each year - approximately 15 percent of the paper recovered in the U.S., it added.
