At the 2011 Global Summit, held this May, RISF's Rodney Young noted that there is strong demand for recovered fiber in the global marketplace.Total fiber used by the global containerboard industry last year was just over 400 million tons, and of that, 218 million tons was recovered paper with the majority being Old Corrugated Containers (OCC), he added. "Economics are still going to i favor recovered paper in China at least for the next 10 years if not for the next 20 to 30 years," Young stressed.
