Industry swings back into FMD mode

Last month, the British dairy industry was able to switch rapidly back to coping with foot and mouth disease again, thanks to the now well-tried mechanism of Dairy UK's conference calls. This followed a new case of the disease being identified in the Surrey surveillance zone, after the all-clear had been sounded by Defra. Since then, conference calls, which have been open to all members, have been held virtually every day to pass on the latest information concerning milk collections, farm visits, milk licences, drivers' hours and exports.
