Standing proud at Stoneleigh

Last month, at The Dairy Event at Stoneleigh, we heavily promoted our Proud of Dairy campaign. Hundreds of farmers signed up to be kept informed of our initiatives. The demand for our black enamel Proud of Dairy badge was overwhelming. Many people asked us how we will communicate the Proud of Dairy message to the general public. Our hope in the longer term is that if the campaign continues to be successful, dairy companies will use it in their advertising. Anyone reading this and seeing an opportunity, please let us know. Two new significant and substantial pieces of research will soon become public, which will further justify our claims to be Proud of Dairy. Firstly, it continues to annoy us that commentators quote a figure of 18% from the FAO's Report, The Livestock's Long Shadow', as livestock's contribution to global greenhouse gas emissions. This is based on weak evidence. Very soon a much more significant independent analysis, commissioned by the European Dairy Association, will reveal the more accurate assessment of only 3% for dairy production, and in Europe, only between 2-3%, with the industry working hard to reduce that. This puts a much truer perspective on reality.
