Using our international network of contacts we are monitoring global developments in the way Governments around the world engage with their food industries on the issues of nutrition and health, the environment and animal welfare. In particular, our new Global Alerts will look in each area at how Governments try to effect change, how the industries respond - defensively or proactively - and how the different commercial sectors react in terms of product formulation and marketing. We believe that by identifying and reporting on best practice elsewhere in the world, we will learn more about how to approach these issues in the UK, and this will make our members better placed to develop new products and move forward.
