The EU legislative machine is now back in full swing after the summer break. Well, at any rate, the Eurocrats are all back at their desks - and that's not quite the same thing. Whatever, this fact will not please the House of Commons' prolific Environment, Food and Rural Affairs Committee. It has just published another report bemoaning the cost of EU regulation, which it says is responsible for the £5 billion it costs Defra each year to regulate the food industry.
