The title, "Full Battle Rattle," itself, is an attention grabber to all who have served in the military. For a common term among soldiers, there is nothing conventional in this book. The cover even fooled me. In the photo you see a Black Hawk helicopter, U.S. military personnel, foreign terrain, and what appears to be an Afghan soldier in a turban - think again. You're looking at an SF A-Team badass Green Beret at a crash site, so read on. Iranian-born author Changiz Lahidji came to the U.S. in the 1970s after serving in the Elite Iranian Special Forces. When he stood up and swore to protect and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies foreign and domestic, he did not falter on that promise. Each chapter describes his involvement in various worldwide operations: the U.S. Embassy hostages in Tehran (1979), Soviet Invasion in Afghanistan (1980s), bombing of the Marine Corps barracks in Beirut (1983), Grenada, First Gulf War (1991), Operation Restore Hope - Somalia (1992), the Haitian Crisis (1994), the Black Hawk down tragedy (2003), the Global War on Terrorism (2001-) and even an Osama Bin Laden sighting. The "been there, done that" term has nothing on Changiz, who retired as a master sergeant after 24 years of honorable service. The only thing missing in this story would be the author cleaning weapons with Chris Kyle "The Legend," U.S. Navy SEAL, American sniper.
