"One effort we're working on to achieve this is .50-cal polymer-cased ammunition to reduce the weight of .50-cal ammo while maintaining the same performance. This includes working with the Army, Navy and Combating Terrorism Technical Support Office to develop lightweight ammo cans, as well as the development of nylon links. Taken together, these efforts could result in a reduction of approximately 10lbs per ammo can."
