摘要

At Quantico, VA, Steve Howell, team lead for Ammunition Acquisition & Operations at Marine Corps Systems Command, told MilTech that polymer ammunition and 'lightening the load' for Marines are current high priorities. "One effort we're working on to achieve this is .50-cal polymer-cased ammunition to reduce the weight of .50-cal ammo while maintaining the same performance. This includes working with the Army, Navy and Combating Terrorism Technical Support Office to develop lightweight ammo cans, as well as the development of nylon links. Taken together, these efforts could result in a reduction of approximately 10lbs per ammo can."
