Navies can project military power great distances, often where least expected, with relative freedom. The Naval Amphibious Task Force uniquely includes the ability to insert a relatively independent and self-sustaining ground presence on foreign shores, extending that reach into the depth of enemy territory. Combining the attributes of naval amphibious forces with landing forces structured with high mobility brings a new dynamic to this application of land power through manoeuvre.
