The Air Force of the Slovak Republic - A Solid Pillar of the Armed Forces

The Air Force of the Slovak Republic (SR) is a solid pillar of the Slovak Armed Forces. History of military aviation dates back to 1919, when the Czechoslovak Republic was established. Through its existence it has undergone a multitude of transformation changes. Currently, the Air Force has a wide variety of air equipment (fighter aircraft, transportation aircraft and helicopters) and ground anti-aircraft equipment in its inventory. Capabilities and Responsibilities Strategy of development of the Air Force's capabilities is based on legislation and Defence Strategy of the SR, which is detailed in particular tasks and responsibilities. These tasks cover a broad spectrum of activities resulting from the SR's membership in NATO and EU. A primary task is to provide for continuous protection and inviolability of both the Slovak Republic's and NATO airspace (NATINADS -NATO Integrated Air Defence System).
