REDCOM Drives the Network Intelliaence Shift to VoIP

The US design, consulting, and manufacturing company REDCOM, a recognised leader in the global communications market, introduced the next generation of integrated Voice-over-Internet Protocol (VoIP) systems containing its TRANSip technology. VoIP means that voice communications and multimedia sessions (e.g., SMS and/or voice messaging applications) can be transmitted over IP networks such as the Internet. In the traditional TDM (Time-Division Multiplexing) world, where TDM is a type of digital or rarely analogue multiplexing, in which two or more signals or bit streams are trans- ferred apparently simultaneously as sub-channels in one communication channel, the intelligence in any given network is located in the core of the network rather than the edges. In the IP world; however, the intelligence has shifted to the end terminals, whereby redundant intelligent codes are being implemented to minimise the bandwidth, which is required to transmit voice data or imagery more effectively.
