Battlefield Medical Technology Developments

The US military has made advancements at every level of battlefield care for the wounded and injured from the corpsman or medic on the battlefield, to the combat support hospital, and to advanced care at the military medical centres, state side. Indeed, ten years of war in Iraq and Afghanistan have produced a revolution in battlefield medicine. As the IED became the weapon of choice of insurgents and other forces battling NATO and individual nations' ground units, it indiscriminately produced ,,polytrauma" or multiple injuries, on its victims. And while the lethality, effectiveness and deployment of the IED and other weapons in the two theatres increased, the military-industry team concurrently provided new strategies and equipment to improve the survival rate of the wounded and injured.
