Communications lies at the heart of successful communications, with secure, reliable and effective communications being key. Without them, logistics are potentially flawed, training potentially wasted, and - critically for those militaries that deploy them - the advanced weapon systems may not necessarily "get there the fastest with the most bang." Which is why so much time, resources and money have been devoted to developing the perfect radio communications solution in the last two decades and more. The ability for radio communications at every level - from theatre command down to the individual reconnaissance trooper (though not necessarily direct) is the holy-grail for the communicators of every military force.
