MT looks at the latest and hottest on naval rotorcraft. Korea has revealed a new requirement for an additional 12 naval helicopters, with the competition being between the AW159, Lockheed Martin's MH-60R and the NH Industries NH-90. Korea currently has around 40 naval helicopters, including the eight AW159s, eight Sikorsky UH-60PS, 11 older LYNX Mk.99s (featuring the SEASPRAY 3 radar, dipping sonar, and FLIR) and 13 LYNX Mk.99A, with improved rotors. Delivery of the new helicopters is expected by 2022.
