"Yeah man, international diplomacy is weird. You should read up on it before you get us all killed with your twitter account," read a response to one of Donald Trump's tweets expressing his bafflement at China's reaction to his phone call with Taiwan three days ago. As he is sworn in as 45th President of the United States on 20 January 2017, the President-elect would do well to bear in mind that diplomacy, a characteristic he has yet to display, is indeed an inherent part of his new job; including the realm of UN Peacekeeping operations (UNPKO). During his presidential campaign, Mr Trump directed one of his now infamous tirades towards the UN and the PKOs it is currently carrying out in various countries around the world: "I think about a UN ambassador [...]. The UN isn't doing anything to end the big conflicts in the world, so you need an ambassador who would win by really shaking up the UN."
