Taking a Stand

Angered by the presence of protestors at military funerals in the summer of 2005, several groups of veterans decided to do something about it. Together they formed the Patriot Guard Riders (PGR), a diverse group of motorcycle enthusiasts who share both a love of freedom and a respect for those who have fought to protect it.rnThe PGR was formed to shield mourning families from interruptions from misguided religious or political zealots and antiwar protestors. When the PGR receives a request for its services from a veteran's family, the organization sends out a call for volunteer riders and creates a Web page, on which riders often leave heartfelt condolences for the family.
