Bob Barnes, USA-Ret., has bee senior policy advisor, DoD, for The Nature Conservancy (TNC) since 2002, facilitating an extensive partnership between DoD and TNC across the U.S.rnWhen did you first learn about TNC?rnI was the staff judge advocate at Fore Command in 1995 when the endangered red-cockaded woodpecker was nesting on land at Fort Bragg [N.C.] needed for training exercises. Cooperation between the Army and TNC reconciled our different missions. Training restrictions were lifted, and the woodpecker reached its recovery goal at Fort Bragg five years ahead of schedule.
