Deliveries to the Italian Air Force of a small number of Alenia Aermacchi M-346 jet trainers are to begin in 2010. Meanwhile, in February 2009 the UAE selected the M-346 to fill a 48-aircraft requirement, and the aircraft is one of two remaining contenders for a competition to supply the military of Singapore with 10-15 new trainers.rnThe Czech Republic is trading an Aero Vodochody L-159 attack aircraft to EADS CASA in partial exchange for four new C-295M transports. Aero Vodochody continues to market the L-159 as a jet trainer and attack aircraft, but the company has not produced a new L-159 since 2003. Surplus aircraft in the Czech Air Force inventory continue to be available for conversion to trainers, dampening demand for new production aircraft.
