Head-up display avionics replacement units for Air Force C-17 cargo jets to come from Elbit Systems

Military avionics designers at The Boeing Company's Defense, Space & Security segment needed replacement head-up displays (HUDs) for the C-17 Globe-master III cargo jet. They found their solution from Elbit Sys- tems of America LLC in Fort Worth, Texas. Elbit avionics engineers will develop the C-17 replacement head-up display (RHUD) for the U.S. Air Force C-17 fleet. The replacement HUD for the cargo jet makes provisions for sensor fusion and related avionics upgrades, as well as enhanced pilot situational awareness and approach-to-runway safety in bad weather and other reduced-visibility conditions.
