Military avionics designers at the Lockheed Martin Corp. Aeronautics segment in Fort Worth, Texas, needed rugged Gigabit Ethernet switches for an upcoming upgrade of the F-16 jet fighter. They found their solution from Curtiss-Wright Controls Defense Solutions in Ashburn, Va. Curtiss-Wright won a contract from Lockheed Martin to supply COTS-based rugged Gigabit Ethernet switch technology for upcoming F-16 jet fighter upgrade programs for the U.S. Air Force and other nations.
