摘要

A broadband aperture-coupling patch antenna (ACPA) with improved radiation and scattering performance is proposed and analysed. In order to broaden the operating bandwidth of APCA, parameters of APCA are investigated and optimised. Then, a novel broadband metamaterial absorber (MA) is designed to be coplanar on APCA. Simulated results indicate that MA-based APCA possess a remarkable RCS reduction and gain enhancement. The RCS reduction is achieved from 3 GHz to 16.0 GHz for the both polarisation, with a maximum reduction of 46.2 dB under x-polarisation incidence at 8.1 GHz and 21.9 dB under y-polarisation incidence at 8.7 GHz. The operating bandwidth of MA-based APCA is also covered by the reduction band, which is from 8.1 GHz to 10.9 GHz. Meanwhile, the gain enhancement is also achieved in the operating band, and the maximum improvement is 2.3 dB at 10.9 GHz. A prototype has been fabricated and measured, and measured results are in agreement with the corresponding simulated results.
