3G and 4G wireless applications need better in- building coverage

As European mobile carriers roll out UMTS, LTE, WiMAX and other so-called 3G and 4G services, they are finding that these higher -frequency services require a significant re-evaluation of cellular infrastructure. Not only do data-intensive 3G/4G services require more bandwidth per subscriber (and thus more bandwidth per cell site), it also requires stronger and more localised coverage to provide the quality of service that subscribers demand.rnIn this article, we will consider the challenges of providing ubiquitous, high-quality 3G/4G coverage inside buildings, and look at how these challenges are being overcome.
