The second edition of The Preservation Management Handbook opens with the statement that it has been revised in "a collaborative spirit." Written by Ross Harvey and Martha R. Mahard, and revised by Donia Conn, this book brings together a variety of expert voices with the goal of reaching a wide audience. The authors note they intend the book to be a "one-stop point of reference" for professionals within libraries, archives, and museums, as well as serving as a "thorough text" for students and faculty in library, archives, and museum studies programs. Collaboration is a strong theme that runs through the entirety of the book, becoming firmly embedded in the discussion of preservation. The authors present preservation through a social lens and emphasize the importance of collaborating with a variety of partners to develop stronger preservation programs that draw on all members of an institution and the community.
