Cobalt markets have continued to cool, with something of a standoff emerging between consumers and suppliers, despite forecasts of increasing deficits.rnPrices have eased on most grades, with the Platts assessments for 99.8% cobalt cathode in both the US and Europe falling below $50/lb for the first time since February 14 in the US and February 21 in Europe. The Platts US assessment fell to $48-49/lb on April 24 from $48.50-51.50 a week earlier, while in Europe it dropped to $48-49 from $50-51 the previous week.rnTraders and producer sources said that while consumers had been hesitant over the last few weeks, because the market had stalled, demand was still strong, particularly for prompt deliveries. One trader said that consumer inquiries for small volumes for delivery within a week were still there.
