Talvivaara achieves 2011 nickel target

Talvivaara Mining has achieved its revised 2011 nickel nproduction target of 16,000 mt, with full-year nickel produc-ntion at 16,087 mt and full-year zinc production at 31,815 nmt, the Finnish miner said last week. Talvivaara produced n4,769 mt of nickel and 10,524 mt of zinc in the fourth quar-nter of 2011, a new quarterly record and up from 3,153 mt nand 7,286 mt, respectively, in the third quarter. During Q3 n2011, Talvivaara’s production was constrained by problems nwith its hydrogen sulfide generators. Hydrogen sulfide is nan essential reagent in the metals recovery process.
