Consultant Gas Engineers Ltd (CGE) has developed the 'Comparator' for the effective control of heat distribution inside its kilns and furnaces. Intended as a cost-effective addon system for existing installations the Comparator allows accurate multi-zone control within the chamber without the need for an expensive multi-channel programmable controller. It consists of a master module with as many as 30 slave modules, each being assigned to a single zone. All the burners firing each zone have a high/low solenoid valve to control the flow of gas. A thermocouple is positioned in each zone to measure temperature.
